What most social media marketers won’t tell you

by | Sep 24, 2019 | Content Creation, Social Media, Strategic Planning

Social media is not the most important part of your marketing plan. It’s an important part, but not the most important one.

I repeat — social media is not the most important part of your marketing plan.

Most social media marketers won’t tell you that because they, understandably, want your business.

That’s why it’s so important to figure out how the different pieces of your marketing fit together. If you are using social media to serve your customers and grow your business, here are a few tips to keep in mind:

#1 Don’t let it be a time-suck.

Crafting a good post can take a while. If you haven’t thought critically about the frequency or topics of your posts, you’ll use the time that you could be spending on other things. Jot down inspiration throughout the day so you have content ready when you sit down to write. Give yourself a time limit when crafting posts so you don’t spend more time than you should!

#2 Think quality over quantity.

Not every business needs to post every day. Instead of worrying about posting daily, focus on developing good content that connects with your audience. BONUS: Pay attention to your analytics/insights to see when your audience is online. If you post less than daily, you want to make sure your posts hit the internet at an optimal time.

#3 Align your social media with your marketing goals.

A goal of social media marketing is to deepen relationships and move the relationship offline. Direct people to your website; invite them to meet with you; show them what it’s like to work with you. Avoid trying to grow a social media audience simply for the sake of increasing your follower count. This can hurt you in the long run!

Your social media is one of the important pieces of your marketing, but it can feel overwhelming amidst all the other responsibilities you have. Focus on these three tips knowing that we are here to help whenever you need it!
