If you’ve been around Stratos for a while, you know we’re crazy about our Lead Generation Machine. Here’s how it works: we combine social media, email marketing, and ads to create a marketing strategy that generates leads and drives sales.
We start by using lead-generating ads to attract potential customers to your business and start growing your email list. Then, social media helps build a relationship between your business and your audience. By creating fun and engaging content, we can keep people interested and excited about what you’re up to. Finally, we use email marketing to turn your leads into paying customers. With our Lead Generation Machine, you’ll have a powerful tool at your disposal to attract, nurture, and sell, driving growth and revenue for your business!
But what if your business can’t sustain all 3 parts of the Lead Generation Machine? What parts should you focus on? Although there’s no one-size-fits-all strategy, here are some pointers to help you decide where to start.
1. Don’t run ads unless you already have a consistent social media presence.
There’s not much sketchier in marketing than when we see an ad, go to the corresponding Instagram account, and find few to no posts there. We start wondering: is this legit? Should I really give them my email address? Before you start an ad campaign, show up on social. A good starting point is 2 posts/week. (If you need help getting started, check out our DIY social media tools.)
2. Don’t collect email addresses and then never send an email.
Lead-generating ads are great for growing your list, but if you never follow up with those leads, you’ll never make a sale. Even if you’re not ready to send weekly or monthly emails, consider setting up an automated welcome sequence so new leads are nurtured right away.
3. Don’t start something you can’t sustain.
Before you dive into the deep end and start posting every day, sending weekly emails, and growing your list like crazy, take a moment to plan ahead. What’s sustainable for your business? What’s the bare minimum amount of content you can sustain creating in the long run? How many posts or emails have you been sending out and how many more do you hope to send? Set realistic goals so you don’t spend a few months creating content like crazy only to go dark on social because you ran out of steam.
If you’re not quite ready for a whole lead gen machine, focus on social media or email first.
P.S. You can totally run a lead generation machine on your own… or, of course, you can hire an agency like Stratos to run it for you! If you’re feeling stuck getting started, request an appointment to explore how we can help.
