The Three Best Podcasts on Marketing

by | Sep 30, 2019 | Podcast, Social Media, StoryBrand, Strategic Planning

In light of celebrating International Podcast Day yesterday, we wanted to share three of our favorite marketing podcasts with you. These are all easy to understand and pretty approachable for a business owner who wants to learn more about marketing.

#1. Online Marketing Made Easy with Amy Porterfield

Amy breaks down marketing in terms that any business owner can understand and execute. Her topics range from online courses to SEO to planning photoshoots. It’s hard to pick just one of our favorite episodes, but this one might be super useful to you as you create content: 10 Ways to Repurpose ONE Single Piece of Content.

#2. Social Media Marketing with Michael Stelzner

This podcast is a gold mine when it comes to social media marketing. Michael goes into great detail on each of the tools he talks about; it’s incredibly easy to find resources for your current projects and learn insight about up-and-coming platforms. The best part of the episodes happen in the first few minutes — Michael’s team member finds a new app/program they recommend and tell you what it can do for you! I’ve found so many new tools through this podcast. Here’s a throwback episode with one of my favorite Instagram teachers, Tyler J McCall: Instagram Stories Strategy: How to Make Stories That Benefit Your Business

#3. Building a StoryBrand with Donald Miller

You didn’t think I’d forget my favorite podcast of all time, did you? Donald Miller interviews a guest for each of the episodes about a theme that is relevant to business owners and leaders. Whether his guests are talking about social media, mission, and vision, or team dynamics, this podcast delivers tangible advice and thoughtful observations. Here are some of our favorites: Chris Voss (former FBI hostage negotiator) on how to negotiate in businessIan Cron on how the Enneagram helps you be a better leader, and Jesse Cole on exceptional customer retention.

And while we love hearing the newest trends in social media and learning better ways to market for our customers, most of the people on our team are die-hard podcast listeners so here are some other podcasts we love:

Rough Translation (Listen to this if you are interested in hearing how cultural norms collide around the world)

You’re Welcome with Hilary Rushford (Think business + lifestyle + true self-care; basically a conversation with your BFF about life.)

Planet Money (A different take on economics with interesting stories about how economic principles show up in our daily lives.)

DENtalks (How do daily practice, meditation, and intentions intersect with different life topics.)

Work in Progress with Sophia Bush (Conversations with inspiring people who know you can be a “both a masterpiece and a work in progress, simultaneously.”)

We really could go on and on. There’s just something about being able to learn something new or listen to a story throughout the day. If there’s a podcast you think we should listen to, drop it in the comments below!
